Karl Schamotta leads Corpay’s currency research group, focusing on analyzing shifts in the global economy and developing strategies that help businesses navigate and harness market volatility. He has designed and implemented risk management and trading programs for hundreds of major corporations across a wide range of industries.
Karl is a regular contributor to international finance publications and is frequently featured in leading media outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Reuters, BNN, CNN, and CNBC. His work bridges macroeconomic analysis, currency markets, and practical risk management considerations for corporate decision?makers.
As Chief Economist at Central 1, Bryan Yu authors many of the organization’s flagship economic reports and speaks regularly at credit union, treasury, and industry events across Canada. He is widely recognized for his ability to translate economic trends into practical insights for financial institutions and corporate leaders.
Bryan’s analysis is frequently featured by major media outlets, including The Globe and Mail, BNN, Bloomberg, and BC Business. Within Central 1, he sits on several treasury and risk committees, providing direct input into balance sheet and risk management decisions.
Prior to joining Central 1 in 2010, Bryan held economist roles at the BC Real Estate Association and CMHC and conducted academic research in immigration economics. He holds a Master of Arts in Economics from Simon Fraser University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba. Bryan also serves on the boards of the B.C. Paraplegic Foundation and the Canadian Association for Business Economics.
Calista Cheung is the Regional Director (Economics) at the Bank of Canada’s Regional Office for British Columbia and the Yukon. In this role, she directs research and analysis on regional economic and financial developments and plays a key role in communicating the Bank’s perspectives to external stakeholders while fostering dialogue on monetary policy.
Ms. Cheung joined the Bank of Canada in 2003 as an economist in the Research Department before moving into senior roles in the International Department. She later served as an economist, and subsequently senior economist, at the Organisation for Economic Co?operation and Development (OECD) in Paris. Her career also includes a secondment to the European Central Bank and a research internship at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.
She holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Boston University and a Bachelor of Commerce with Joint Honours in Economics and Finance from McGill University.
